I don’t know about you, but I could use some puppy photos. This week has been hard for me. Actually, this year has been hard. I’m not quite ready to go into too much detail because I’m still in the midst of the chaos, but suffice it to say that my life balance is off and a lot of that is work stress. I think I might give the impression that I have it all figured out (at least if you’re newer to my blog and you read my About page). The truth is that I sometimes have it figured out, but then circumstances change or I change and it’s necessary to reevaluate and make more changes. I was completely, emotionally overwhelmed at the start of this week, and now I’m slowly entering that now-familiar reevaluation stage and trying to gain some clarity on the changes I need to make to get back my balance. I’ll share more as I get there.
But, while I’m pondering what I need to do to get to a happy place, how about we focus on Barley?
He’s probably the best co-worker ever.
He keeps me company during conference calls, absolutely insists that I break away from my computer every hour and a half (he has to pee a lot), and reminds me that most of the things I’m freaking out about are not very important and only temporary.
He is so wise.
And so big.
Well, relatively speaking.
Those puggle eyes get me every time.
In case you missed my previous updates, here’s Barley at five months and four months. And Barley when he was teeny tiny. My heart can barely handle it.

Amanda – I really hope things get less stressful for you. For things to get better, I have realized we should all have that hope, someday ..someday it keeps me going at my current job which if i could, I would leave RIGHT NOW. I hope having a supportive husband Aaron, and the most adorable co-worker around you makes things better. Take Care friend.
Thank you so much, Dixya. I agree about that ‘someday’ mentality when things are rough.
I looovveee seeing a puggle pup update, but so sorry it came on the heels of some stressful times. Hope things smooth out soon…and until they do, soak up those Barley nuzzles!
Barley is keeping me sane. Well, except for when he’s adding to the crazy. But his crazy is a good kind of crazy.
sorry you’re having a rough week, but he is just the cutest!!! this put a huge smile on my face! i remember when my puggle was getting to this stage and so sweet and gangly…what a little love!
I love this puppy stage too. Puggles are the best.
I hope things get better for you.
Barley is such a cutie. I am 8-9 hours from “home” and I miss my two dogs from home. Seeing other people’s cute dogs gives me such pleasure. Thank you for sharing.
I’m the same way about my dogs. Even if I’m just away for a day I miss them.
I hope everything starts to turn around – a hug of that furry and adorable face sounds like it would be just the ticket to help things shine a little brighter
Thanks, Megan. <3
He has the sweetest face. Love love love it.
Take care of yourself, Amanda. I hope things get more peaceful for you <3
Look at those eyes,
those floppy ears.
OMG He’s so cute!
I can ALWAYS use puppy photos! And these are totally killing me!
I hope that you can find some balance and peace soon. xo
He is really, really REALLY cute. But you already knew that!
I hope everything is okay with you, my friend! Big hugs- miss you!
Miss you too! Things are okay. I think I am just very much in need of a vacation.
Oh, I totally feel for you when I read this because I feel so similar to you. This year hasn’t been great for me yet and I understand that overwhelmed feeling. Your puppy is a perfect distraction and absolutely adorable – thanks for sharing!
Sorry you’re going through a rough patch too! For me, things have kept piling on, piling on…I keep waiting for a break, but really, I just need to set some boundaries and be better about taking control of the things that are adding to the stress. It WILL pass eventually. That’s what I have to keep telling myself.
I wish there was a stronger word than adorable – Barley would be so deserving of it! There is something so calming and grounding about a pet. My building doesn’t allow pets and I’m often tempted to move as I think I’d get along very well with a kitten as company
Pets are the best. I based my entire apartment search around finding a pet-friendly place. It’s not easy (at least where I live), but it’s so worth it! I vote for getting a kitten.
Hi Amanda,
Most of the time nothing is ever as dire as it seems … Keep up the lovely work and lovely photos – you’re doing great here! x
I love your blog and your beautiful puppy is definitely what you need to take cues from when you feel overwhelmed – refocus and remember it’s perfectly ok to not be perfect, make mistakes and remember that as long as you are trying your best things will figure themselves out
Thank you so much for the kind words, Kylie. <3
Cute puppy! Pug mixes are smart too – we have a chi-pug-hua and I swear she is a reincarnated person.
Thanks, Hannah! I think they are reincarnated people too.
